8 best treks in Himalayas for Nov and Dec.

Trekking in the Himalayas is the ultimate dream of every thrill-seeker, owing to the breathtaking views, narrow passes, and steep climbs. For an adrenaline junkie, winter treks in the Himalayas are much more than what might come across. While the months of November and December might not be the safest time to trek, it is about snow-clad mountains, challenging stamina which makes the experience even more inviting. Kauri pass

An enthralling trek that offers each participant the most stunning views of the mighty Himalayan peaks such as the Chaukhamba Range, Mana, Kamet and Abl Gamin has emerged as a winter favourite amongst Indians. This route is also known as the Lord Curzon Trail in honor of the former British Viceroy of India, who hiked through it. It is an easy to moderate trek and takes approximately 4-6 days.

 The Hampta Pass Trek:

Manali is the hub of all things travel in North India and many exciting treks start from here. Hampta Pass trek starts from Manali, goes through Jobra and Chika where you can sight lush greenery, River Rani and gorgeous mountainous stretches on your way. You can sight the mighty Dhauladhar Ranges from Chika, and upon reaching Balu ka Ghera, you can also catch sight of the some of the best peaks in the Himalayas. In your route, you will stop over at the quaint Hampta Village where you can discover the eccentric lifestyle and culture of the locals before heading for your final destination.

Snow Leopard Trek

As is evident from the name itself, this trek offers you an exciting opportunity to spot snow leopards. The hike is thrilling and a part of it is set in Hemis National Park, which has two high passes that have to be crossed. Hemis National Park is a wildlife empyrean that preserves natural beauty to its best. It is set amidst the Himalayas, and the route houses endangered animal species that are a sight to behold such as Tibetan wolves, horned sheep, blue sheep, Eurasian Brown Bear and more. The trek lasts for 13 days and is graded between moderate and challenging.

The Chadar Trek

This is one of the famous treks in Ladakh has gained universal fame over being one of the most challenging, picturesque and enthralling winter treks in India. A part of the hike is over the Zanskar river, which is surrounded by huge mountainous wall. The weather here is freezing cold and we would not recommend beginners to go for this one. The total route covers more than 100 km of area, and takes 8 days to complete it one side depending on the specific weather conditions.

Nag Tibba Trek

If you love to carry your camera everywhere and click stunning shots, you should seriously consider going for the Nag Tibba trek which is loved by adventurers, nature lovers and Hindu devotees alike. The local inhabitants come here to pay their ode to the Nag Devta (Snake God) and pray for the protection of the village. The hike starts from Pantwari and is known for the scenic beauty that is on display here.

Har ki Dun

It is undoubtedly one of the most popular treks in the Garhwal region and is an easy once, that is one of the treks for beginners as well. It is set in the Uttarkashi district and lies in proximity to the border between Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The route is full of beautiful scenes and raw natural beauty which is a real treat for the eyes. You will pass some remote and undiscovered areas of Garhwal and the friendly local people. The forested path area is heaven for those who love nature and birdwatching.

Kedarnatha Trek:

A classic Indian winter hike, Kedarnatha is gorgeous and mesmerizing and covers a huge landscape of unparalleled beauty, where you hike through secluded villages, meadows and pastures, snowy trails and a great view of the Himalayas. The trek commences from Sankari, a small village. This is one of the easiest treks and is recommended for beginners and, even children. After reaching the peak, be prepared to be stunned by the views of mountain ranges including Swargrohini, Bandarpoonch, Black peak etc. The locals living here are extremely friendly and helpful and make the journey an easy and comfortable experience for all.

Everest Base Camp Trek:

This is a trek that is more challenging than others in the list and is not recommended for beginners. The summit is sky high in the mountains, and reaching it is an exciting adventure. Head for the Everest Base Camp trek this winters as it offers you a chance to pass through quaint little villages, lush green paths, steep ascents and more.
